“. . . dabbling in Pyro-Graphic Art”

Chris Wolfe - A Pyro-Graphic Artist in New Zealand by richard w lubrich jr

The Pyro-Graphic Artist in New Zealand - Chris Wolfe - “favours photo-realistic art”. I originally “met” Lynn Ross (Myself and Lynn being active participants in the SETI Project - “Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence”) communicated quite frequently - via the Internet, the Project, Telephone and as well - with SETI Synergy Group, over the years. Synergy is a Team - with the SETI Project - and was the brain-storm of another friend and collaborator - Zain Upton - a Medical Doctor in Adelaide, Australia. Lynn Ross left for New Zealand - to marry Chris Wolfe and has lived there for approximately two years . . . Chris most likely - shall become represented by Lynn - as she believes (and so do I) in his “Dabbling in Pyro-Graphic Art” I am convinced that Chris shall make quite an impact - in the Future of his chosen Art of Portrayal - of the best Custom Bike Builders in the USA.

Below, is an E-Mail sent by Chris to me -

Bio - Quote  from Chris Wolfe . . .

Chris Wolfe known as Wolfie. Born in Newark, Nottingham, England in August 1960 to a Dutch mother and English father. Raised on various military installations round the world as my father was in the British Air Force. Emigrated with the family to New Zealand in 1975 and settled first in Auckland. Was blindingly unexceptional at school but after much effort lifted my game to mediocre and became a tradesman qualified web offset printer in 1981.

After completing my apprenticeship I accepted positions working in the Print trade in Samoa and then Melbourne Australia. I suffered a spinal injury in Australia which forced my return to New Zealand and a new career path in Print Management.

I worked at corporate level culminating in my founding a successful Advertising Agency, Alphabet Soup Ltd, which was initially funded by the sale of my Harley. I opted out of advertising in 1999 to settle in Blenheim, Marlborough, New Zealand and concentrate on my family and fly fishing.

I now work in construction and have my own Interior Plastering business.

I have always had an artistic bent and have dabbled in Pyro-graphic art since the late seventies. Nearly all my work has been gifted to friends and this is a situation that Lynn wants to address with my taking a more businesslike approach to my art. I favour photo-realistic art probably because I'm so anal about the need for detail which is probably a result of my printing background.

The one piece that I have a photo of (that Lynn sent you) took about 130 hours and was produced with an antiquated machine with one fixed nib. Note: See Photograph Above . . .

I now have some wonderful kit courtesy of a Canadian pyro-graphic supplier and this has re-energized me and prompted me to plan a series of work featuring the best Custom Bike Builders in the USA. I chose this subject matter because I am a biker myself, having never lost touch with my roots, and stand in awe at the amazingly technical and artistic work that these men of incredible vision produce.

I am currently working on a piece for Paul Yaffe, an Internationally recognized and highly regarded custom bike builder and am awaiting reference material from 2 other re-known bike builders.

Thank you very much for responding to Lynn’s request (she has always spoken highly of you) and helping me in this new endeavour. It is greatly appreciated.”

Regards,

Chris

I think this art is very interesting and I will be getting in touch with Chris (aka Julian) shortly. I have a similar geographical background (UK to NZ, same UK school at one point) and desire to build something from interest, rather than financial gain. I look forward to meeting Chris and exploring more of this artistic technique.
